Ten years after the 2016 Louisiana flood, millions have been spent but fear still lingers
10 years ago the Lafayette area incurred its worst flood event in modern times. Two things have occurred since then. The community has taken many steps to reduce flooding risks, especially with the construction of detention ponds. The community has grown tremendously, especially in the Youngsville area and much of the rainfall has to find its way to the lazy Vermillion River which possesses a limited capacity:
